The Full Story

Laura R. Conroy has spent her legal career zealously fighting for justice for her clients. She focuses on being compassionate and supportive through difficult legal processes, helping clients understand and feel confident along the way.

​

Laura grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and attended Lake Park High School in Roselle. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and her law degree from Northern Illinois University College of Law.

 

Laura began her career as a prosecutor in Kane County in 2013, specializing in cases involving victims of domestic violence. She became Head of the Domestic Violence Unit in 2021 and was named Prosecutor of the Year that same year. Laura later worked with Prairie State Legal Services, where she represented victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in civil and family court. Through these experiences, she developed extensive knowledge in domestic violence issues, orders of protection, and trial advocacy.

 

Since entering private practice, Laura has focused primarily on family law, orders of protection, criminal defense and other civil matters.

Outside of work, Laura enjoys spending time with her husband and their three children. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Community Crisis Center in Elgin, Illinois, and volunteers with several community organizations. Laura has also taught as an Adjunct Professor at Northern Illinois University College of Law.

Laura is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Kane County Bar Association, and the DeKalb County Bar Association. She is a certified mediator, guardian ad litem, parenting coordinator and holds certifications in domestic violence advocacy.
